The Missing…
In a hidden basement, eighteen-year-old Toni is held captive and no one can hear her screams. She’s been abducted after investigating unspeakable things in the darkest corners of the Internet.
The Vigilante…
Fearing the worst, Toni’s mother turns to ex-SAS operative Mitchell to help find her missing daughter. And when Mitchell discovers Toni’s fate rests in the hands of pure evil, he races against the clock to find Toni and bring her out alive. But even that might not be enough to save her.
The Detective…
DS Warren Carter is looking forward to a new job and a simpler life. But when he’s called in to investigate the brutal murder of a seemingly normal couple, he becomes entangled in lives that are anything but simple. And as he digs deeper, he uncovers a crime more twisted than he could ever have imagined.

My Thoughts:

This book really did take you ‘into the darkness’. This was extremely nefarious, I couldn’t even begin to get my head around the red room and whether such things even exist. I think I will prefer to stay ignorant on that matter and assume it was all made up for the purposes of this book! Either way, it certainly sent shivers down my spine at what was being described as it was truly horrific. I’m glad it was in a book, so I could gloss over it and imagine as much as I wanted. I think if it had been a film and been in front of me I may have thrown up!
The tone of this book reminded me a little of Jack Reacher, with the skills the Vigilante, Mitchell, had. He was exceedingly adept at hunting the bad guy down and wasn’t afraid of a bit of gruesome violence to get to where he needed to be.
I think what I loved most about this book was the author’s tongue in cheek humour about political correctness gone mad. I had to actually look up whether ‘whiteboard’ is now a taboo word as it wouldn’t surprise me with the way the world is going (I couldn’t find any evidence of it being!) It made me realise how awfully sexist I’m being calling my website ‘pinkanddizzy’ maybe it should be ‘pink/blueanddizzy’ or ‘nocolouranddizzy’. Or how about I just like the colour pink and it actually doesn’t MEAN anything!
